Massimo Vignelli was born in 1931 and has worked in a wide variety of areas like interior design, environmental design, package design, graphic, furniture and product design. He designed the iconic signage for the New York subway system and the way finding system for Washington DC metro. Vignelli Associates, a company he founded with his wife Lella has high profile clients like IBM, Knoll, Bloomingdale and American Airlines. He has over 7 honorary doctorates from various Universities for his work. Lella Vignelli is the president of Vignelli Designs dealing with product and furniture designs . She is a freguent speacker and juror for national and international design organizations. She has received many awards including the 1991 National Arts Club Gold Medial For design."I like design to be semantically correct, syntactically consistent and pragmatically understandable.
